You can stop the File Replica Server process anytime you like. To do this, go to "Server" > "Stop" from the Menu Bar. See figure below.

You can verify that the File Replica Server Process has stopped at the "Main Tab Window" under "Status". You should see the word "Stopped". Also under "Latest" of "Activities". See sample figure below.
